Alan Wade and Sarah Wade

Alan Wade, from Wellington, originally began writing the Dreaded CurlyWurly Fish stories for his grandchildren. He wanted to create fun-filled adventure stories to make them laugh and to help develop their reading skills.

They were so delighted with the stories, they took them to school to read out in class and they became a hit with their friends. That inspired Alan to share the Dreaded CurlyWurly Fish with others.

Alan teamed up with his daughter Sarah, who created the illustrations. She worked closely with Alan to ensure his vision was carefully brought to life.

The books tell their stories in a fun and exciting way with the moral of the story being “don’t mess with Grandma and Grandpa”! Each book contains educational fun facts about our oceans and the creatures that live in them.

Sarah Wade lives and works in Wellington, New Zealand. She studied Graphic Design and Illustration in Leicester, England earning a BA Hons degree. She works full-time as a Marketing Executive, but her passion for illustration drives her to work on illustration projects in her spare time. Sarah has illustrated all three of the Dreaded CurlyWurly Fish adventures.
