Written and illustrated by Jeanette Goode
A note from the creator: It was very important to me as the author to also illustrate A Little Blue. The story is set on the West Coast where I live and the illustrations needed to tell a deeper, bigger story than just the words, which are sparse.
A Little Blue was designed for 7-12 year olds who are reluctant readers.
The text and illustrations work together to tell a deeper story than the letter form of the narrative.
This story has proved to be a favourite of all ages. Adults , children and babies love it.
Meet Kiwi author and illustrator Jeanette Goode
Jeanette lives on the West Coast of the South Island, next to a penguin colony where the kororā, little blue penguins have their burrows.
After a 30-year career in the film industry, she decided to follow her passion for children’s literature and began writing and illustrating books for children. In 2006 she graduated from Canterbury University with a Diploma in Children’s Literature.
A Little Blue is the first book in a series created by Jeanette about the threatened species of Aotearoa New Zealand. A Little Blue is endorsed by the West Coast Penguin Trust, with a
donation from every sale of every book going toward conservation and protection of kororā, the little blue penguins.
