I selected Samples from the Lab for the bookstore because it’s delightfully quirky and different to most books. Rob’s crowdfunding project to create this cloth-covered, hardcover book was fully funded in 5 hours, so others loved the concept too.

Meet the creator

Rob Foote is an illustrator specialising in completely inaccurate and highly improbable scientific illustrations, as well as innumerable others triggered by his vivid imagination and sense of humour. With over 100 published titles, he has worked for a range of clients, including The Times, Vodafone, The BBC, Riot Games, SuperCell, Gameloft, Capstone Publishing, Oxford University Press, and Macmillan Publishing. Feature Film credits include Mosley, Seal Team, The Flood and Blood Diamond. He has gained a few awards: Finalist Golden Baobab Award, Winner Coca Cola Young designers award, and quite a few nods of approval along the way. He is currently living in Dunedin, New Zealand.
