KidsBooksNZ ~ This hilarious picture book is a playful take on library rules, creative consequences, and the fine art of telling tall tales. It’s perfect for reading aloud at the start of a library session, serving both as a humorous icebreaker and a gentle reminder of appropriate behaviour. Kids will love the cheeky humour in both the text and the illustrations.
About the Kiwi creators
Swapna Haddow grew up in the UK and wrote her first book at age eight—though she traded it for two stickers and a couple of marbles! Her debut, Dave Pigeon, won multiple awards, and she has since authored the My Dad is a Grizzly Bear picture book and the Ballet Bunnies series under the name Swapna Reddy. Her first book with Scholastic NZ was the laugh-out-loud But Then…, the forerunner to Why Not? She now lives in Dunedin with her husband, son, and dog.
Daron Parton is an award-winning illustrator who moved from the UK to New Zealand in 1995. With over 30 years of illustration experience, he’s brought to life a range of humorous Scholastic titles including We Saw a Spinosaurus, Starfish the Star, Stupid Carrots, and Bedtime is Boring. Daron lives in Hamilton with his wife and two sons.
