All orders sent by courier, usually 2-3 days. You’ll receive a tracking link and updates via email from Go Sweet Spot. If we anticipate any delay, we’ll let you know. Allow extra time around statutory holidays.
All books packed in recyclable, sturdy cardboard packaging or recycled courier packs and boxes.
We’ve capped our P&P rates at our A4 satchel rate of $9.95* no matter how many books you order or their size. Smaller books, such as paperback novels, go in an A5 satchel for $5.90*.
*Rural delivery extra (we on-charge at cost).
We are committed to ensuring the safe arrival of your parcel. Simply send us an email and we’ll investigate with the courier ASAP.
Credit or debit card payments are processed immediately by Stripe, a secure, online payment service. Your order is confirmed at the same time, and we’ll pack and dispatch your order on our next business day. Stripe accepts all major global credit and debit cards. More information is available their website or email us if you have any questions.
We also accept payment by online bank transfer. Choose ‘pay by online banking‘ then click ‘place your order’. You’ll receive an email confirming your order with our bank account details for you to make payment. Your order won’t be packed and dispatched until your payment has been received.
Schools and early childhood centres – if you have an account with us, please select “pay by online banking” and add “send invoice” in the comments field.
We can also accept Booksellers NZ tokens. These are physical vouchers available from Booksellers NZ and member bookstores around New Zealand. Because we operate an online bookstore without a physical bookstore to visit, to redeem a token, please send us an email and we’ll place the order for you manually. You will need to send us the token(s) so we can be reimbursed by Booksellers NZ.
If the book is a gift, as a member of Booksellers Aotearoa New Zealand, we can offer you an exchange card for these situations. Please note in the comments field that you require an exchange card, and which book or books in your order this should be filled in for. Then the card can be enclosed with the book being gifted and, if needed, the recipient can find a local bookshop where they can exchange the book.
Here’s what the recipient needs to know about the exchange card: “If you have read this book or for any other reason wish to exchange it, you may present this card to any Booksellers NZ member, within 28 days of [the date it was purchased].” Find which bookshops belong to Booksellers NZ here.
If your book(s) arrived damaged, please contact us immediately via email with your order number and a photo of the damaged book(s) and/or packaging itself so we can replace or refund your book(s).
If you wish to return or exchange a book because you’ve changed your mind, or there’s been a mistake with your order, please contact us within 7 days of receiving your book. We will accept returns and exchanges only when books are returned to us in pristine, unread condition.
Please note we have made every effort to provide accurate information about each book. We are happy to provide more details, if we can, should you have any questions about the suitability of a book for a particular reader. Please contact us with any queries.
All books are shown with the number held in stock (which should be correct but may occasionally be wrong…)
If this section shows “available on backorder”, we will order the book in for you, usually 1-2 weeks, but may be longer depending on the supplier. Please check with us first if your order is urgent. Please note that we offer the “available on backorder” option on the basis that most books are usually in stock with the supplier, but we cannot guarantee this. If the supplier advises any delays, we will let you know as soon as we can and offer you the option of a refund if you prefer not to wait.
If this section shows “out of stock”, we can happily place an order specifically for you. Email us to tell us which books you’d like us to order for you. These are often titles which come from Australia, so allow 5-6 weeks delivery time.
If you want to your order sent to a country other than New Zealand, please contact us for a quote to send your books overseas.
If you are overseas and want to order a book to be delivered in New Zealand, we’re happy to help! Simply enter your non-New Zealand address details in the ‘billing address’ fields then scroll down to tick the box beside ‘deliver to a different address?’ Then you can enter a delivery address in New Zealand for your recipient. Contact us if you need a hand.
We love helping teachers and librarians find great Kiwi kids’ books that may not be available through mainstream publishing channels.
You have the option of ordering via the online bookstore and paying by credit card or online banking in the usual way.
You can also request our terms of trade document. When this is signed and returned, we can then invoice your school or ECC for payment strictly on the 20th of the month following. Once you’re set up with a school account, please select the “online payment” option when ordering and add a note “send invoice” in the comments field.
When you’re completing your order through the checkout, you’re offered the option of creating an online user account with The Kiwi Kids’ Bookstore, or whether to check out as a guest. You can choose your own password so note that down somewhere safe. You can find these details again via the “My Account” link in the footer.
The reasons you might like to create an account are: 1) to have your name and delivery details saved securely in the online store so it’s faster to check out for future orders, 2) so you can look up earlier orders if needed, and 3) to be able to post reviews on relevant book pages (only registered users can do this).
The Kiwi Kids’ Bookstore is run by a Kiwi Lisa Gill who selects books by New Zealand authors and illustrators from NZ publishers, distributors and authors who choose to self-publish.
Lisaconsiders each book on its own merit, looking at the overall quality of writing and design, and whether she think it fits with the ethos behind the Kiwi Kids’ Bookstore which is to encourage Kiwi kids to read more books written by New Zealand authors.
If you are a New Zealand author interested in submitting your book(s), you’ll find more information for authors here.
