Author Rachel Weston, lives in the beautiful Bay of Plenty on a kiwifruit orchard with her family, a horse in the backyard and her dogs, who are her loving writing companions – and thankfully get her up from her writing desk for a walk each day!
Rachel’s love of writing for children evolved from writing keepsake stories of her three children, when they were young. She jotted things down – funny things they did and said, and wrote madcap family vignettes.
In September 2019, Rachel independently published her debut non-fiction children’s book, Bumblebees Have Smelly Feet, endorsed by the New Zealand Bumblebee Conservation Trust, which sold out and was re-printed in 2020.
Rachel has published three further picture books, Hello! Kia ora! Welcome new friend!, which is endorsed by the Auckland Kindergarten Association, and Boo Goes Tutti Frutti. This is a laugh-out-loud story about a dog called, Boo, who makes a huge mess, while home alone tasting fruit from the fruit bowl! You won’t believe which fruit is Boo’s favourite! She released Bumblebee in September 2021, again working with illustrator Deborah Hinde. In 2022, she released Messy-o-saurus.
